Navid Sobbi founded NSI Global in 2004 and leads the firm as Chief Executive Officer, remaining personally active across its core practices — counterintelligence, technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM), digital forensics, geopolitical risk and intelligence advisory. Within the firm’s Digital Forensics practice, he also serves as lead examiner.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Intelligence and a Master of International Security and Counterterrorism (majoring in Digital Forensics), and remains personally involved in complex digital forensic examinations, expert reporting and court-related matters.
In Australia, Navid has prepared expert forensic reports and given expert evidence in numerous matters before Australian state and federal courts, including the District and Supreme Courts, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the NSW Court of Appeal and the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal. His forensic work has principally been undertaken on instructions from law firms, law enforcement agencies, and state and Commonwealth Offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and he has also accepted direct instructions from corporate clients in appropriate matters. His reports document the evidence examined, methodology applied, limitations encountered, findings reached and the basis for any opinions expressed — allowing the work to be independently scrutinised and, where required, tested under cross-examination.
Published decisions of the Australian courts referring to his work include Peek v Wheatley [2025] NSWSC 554 and the subsequent appeal, Wheatley v Peek [2025] NSWCA 265. In that matter, Navid acted as a joint court-appointed digital forensic expert to examine an Apple iPhone, prepared an initial and supplementary report, and was cross-examined; both judgments recorded that there was no dispute concerning his evidence.
Other published Australian decisions referring to his forensic work include Tan v Commissioner of the NSW Police [2012] NSWSC 1580, Zou v Superway Pty Ltd [2021] FedCFamC2G 144 and Raine v Islam [2026] FCA 203.
